Best Tips To Care and Clean Your Eyelash Extensions

If you have ever tried eyelash extensions, you will know the power it has to transform your entire beauty routine. On top of waking up looking fresh like a daisy, you can eradicate the need to reach out for your eyeliner, mascara, eyelash curler or any eye make up for that matter - a total essential considering how much time we can save primping with our busy lifestyles.

Lash extensions is a great way to shave off years of your age and can make you look like a million bucks on top of all the other perks, but they do need a little upkeep. Every customer has a different lifestyle and skin type which affects the retention rate of their extensions. Simply put, the better your care and clean your lashes, the chances are, the longer it will last till you need to go back for your next session.

The best way to keep those extensions lasting as long as possible is to care and clean for them on a regular basis. Here are some tips on how to do just that!

1. AVOID WEARING  EYE MAKEUP

Ditch wearing mascara or any eye make up if you can. If you are unable to ditch your mascara, avoid using a waterproof one and opt for a brand that can be washed off easily. But isn't the whole point of getting lash extensions is so that your lashes and eyes are already dolled up sans makeup in the first place?

Try experimenting with different volume extensions to give you that oomph that you are looking for. The general rule of the thumb is, as you volume up, you will get a fluffier and more defined finish.

If you decide you still need eye make up, make an effort to clean your eyes with a dedicated lash foam and brush to swipe away all the oil, debris and speckles of make up that has been building up on your lash line over time. Leaving debris to sit on your lash line and around your eyes may cause inflammation over time and that is something you can avoid with good care.

2. AVOID USING COTTON PADS

Avoid using cotton pads to wipe your eye area. Instead, invest in a lint free wipe and use a gentle action of dabbing so that you do not snag and rip out your extensions in the cleaning process. Tugging and pulling at your extensions breaks the bond that adheres the extensions to your natural lashes and causes it to fall prematurely.

3. GENTLE CLEANSING

Clean your lash extensions regularly with a dedicated lash foam and brush. Avoid using oil-based products, as they can break down the adhesive and shorten the lifespan of the extensions.

4. COMB YOUR EXTENSIONS

Use a clean spoolie brush to gently comb through your lash extensions to prevent them from tangling and looking uneven. This also helps to clear off any dust or light debris that settles on your extensions, which in turn helps with the longevity of your extension set.

5. BE MINDFUL OF SLEEPING POSITIONS

Try to sleep on your back or on the side of your face that won't put direct pressure on the extensions to prevent bending or damage. Sleeping face down with tug and pull at your extensions causing premature shedding.
