6 Things You Should Know Before Getting Your First Set of Eyelash Extensions

After much deliberation and time spent on socials browsing through various before and after transformations, you have decided to give eyelash extensions a shot.

Congratulations girlllll! Your make up routine is about to get so much easier as you will be waking up to effortlessly gorgeous and fluttery semi-permanent eyelashes. Imagine having those doll-eyed, wispy eyelashes that Kim Kardashian and Kylie Jenner are always spotted looking fabulous in. Waking up in them and looking your best every morning helps lift your mood and that sets the tone for the rest of the day.

Curious as to what you should know before popping by for your first session? We have prepared 6 tips here, just for you.

1. Swing by for your session with clean lashes and no eye make-up.

It is advisable to come in for your session with clean eyes sans any eye make-up. Clean eyelashes not only set a good base for which your beautician can work on, but also significantly prolongs the retention rate of your extensions.

Choose a salon that offers a complimentary lash spa before your session commences. This is an indication of their dedication to the lash craft and great customer service. Working on unclean lashes not only creates an environment for bacteria growth but could eventually lead to an unwanted eye allergy.

2. Arrive 10 minutes prior to your appointment.

Attempt to swing by 5 to 10 minutes before your session commences. This gives you ample time to use the washroom, relax and calm your nerves as well as look through the lash catalogue before your beautician attends to you. This also ensures that your stylist have the full allocated time slot to work solely on churning out the best lash results for you.

3. Make a trip to the washroom before your session commence.

Most lash session would require about an hour and a half to two hours to fill your natural lashes. The last thing we want is for our clients to feel uncomfortable or restless holding it in during the treatment. Going to the ladies just before your session commences allows you to rest comfortably, relax and use the treatment time to get a beauty nap.

4. Remove contact lens.

If you can, bring along a contact lens case with you for your appointment and remove your lenses prior to your session. Closing your eyes for an hour and more during the treatment with your lenses on might cause your eyes to turn a little dry.

5. Avoid caffeine before your session.

Do try to avoid caffeine or any high energy drinks prior to your session. Doing so makes your eyes twitch during the treatment and makes it difficult for your beautician to apply the extensions. As each session is about an hour half to two hours long, it is a great opportunity to take a power nap and wake up to perfect fluffy lashes.

6. Have an idea of the effect you would like to achieve.

No two eyes are the same and hence, results on another will not exactly be the same for you. Nonetheless, do come for your session with an idea of the type of effect you would like to achieve. Your beautician, after analyzing your natural lash count and eye shape would then be able to advise you on the type of lashes and style that would best re-create your vision.
